Sneakerheads love hunting for the perfect grails on eBay. So to launch eBay's branded sneaker account and handle, we brought the sneaker hunt to social, giving new followers a chance to cop the greatest kicks.

For sneakerheads, sneakers are a world of their own. There's a story behind each pair, its impact on culture, and its importance to the community. This project is an outlet of expression inspired by those stories and a celebration of creativity by one of its own, Mike Perry.

This two-part campaign, designed to be continuously active, engaged the sneaker community by offering an opportunity to win coveted sneaker 'grails' from eBay. Over four weeks, the campaign unfolded across social media platforms, presenting a diverse array of content that kept participants deeply involved and consistently engaged.


In parallel, a charity auction was integrated into the campaign, showcasing custom shoes created by Mike Perry. This celebration of the culture's enthusiasm for sneakers was a way to give back to the community.

Results

The Sneaker Hunt got the job done and yielded a 12 pt lift in awareness that eBay “sells authentic sneakers” among audiences that engaged with the campaign. Here are the stats:
